Sydney City Marine maintenance facility opens A state of the art repair and maintenance facility is now available in downtown Sydney
|
Sydney City Marine is located at Rozelle Bay and has the key attributes that make it ideal for ship repair activities, including deep water access (8 m at low tide), excellent road access, ample space for off street parking and good height draft with the only restriction being the Sydney Harbour Bridge at 49m above sea level. Sydney City Marine intends to position itself as a "one stop shop" marine industry cluster to cater to the boating needs of the local pleasure boat owner, the Sydney charter fleet, commercial vessels, theRoyal Australian Navy and Superyachts. Their philosophy is based on a strong service ethic, and is quite simple: every customer is important and customer service is paramount. Sydney City Marine not only has the lifting capability that will make it a heavy weight in all vessel servicing, but it also employs the latest technology, making it the most advanced and environmentally friendly boat repair and maintenance facility in Australia. The 800 tonne Ship-Lift will cater for vessels up to 55m in length with up to a 13m beam. The 100 tonne Straddle lift is capable of lifting vessels with a 7m beam. Self-propelled hydraulic boat trailers enable tradesmen to service vessel more efficiently once they've been lifted. Plus, there's a 47 tonne submersible hydraulic boat trailer, which is ideal for hauling out timber boats. The yard has 6200 sqm of open hardstand as well as 3200sqm of undercover hardstand, providing maintenance and repair space all year round. In the water, there are eight floating berths for vessels up to 60m. Longitude is the name of the retail and commercial building adjacent to the site on James Craig Road. Tenants are still to be confirmed, but it is envisaged that it will soon house a restaurant and cafe, as well as marine retail outlets. Additionally, with over 3000sqm of commercial office space, it is expected that marine professionals such as marine surveyors, insurers, naval architects and boat brokers will find it a suitable office location, with sweeping views across Sydney CBD and the Harbour Bridge.
