The Coffs Coast region has many small and mid-size towns and villages each with their own distinct flavour. Sawtell, just 10 minutes drive south of Coffs is a seaside town with an eclectic mix of cafes, galleries and boutiques. A short drive north of Coffs will delight spice lovers, who will find curry heaven at Woolgoolga, home to regional Australias largest Sikh and Punjabi population.

The region is blessed with 12 golf courses offering diverse challenges. The Coffs Harbour Golf Club is highly rated, as is the rainforest backdrop of the Bonville International Golf Resort. This beautiful coast also offers beaches and surf, plus snorkelling or diving at the nearby Solitary Islands Marine Park. White water rafting or gentle kayaking is also on offer in the hinterland rainforest.

Coffs Harbour breakwater can be difficult to distinguish from the mainland, particularly during late afternoon when the sun is low in the west. During strong winds, large seas and swell can build up, making approach into the harbour potentially dangerous in these conditions. Approaching from the south, stay east of Korffs Islet until leading beacons line up to mark the entry between the rock seawall and Muttonbird Island.

Anchoring is permitted inside the seawall, but, except in calm conditions, this area is subject to swell and surge rolling around the breakwater. A better option is taking a berth in the Coffs Harbour Marina in the inner harbour, whose entrance lies north of the end of the old shipping jetty.

Contact harbour control on VHF16 to make berth arrangements during normal office hours. The Coffs Harbour Yacht Club is located past the slipway and may be able to assist with visitor berthing.
