At the heart of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, Mooloolaba is a coastal town with a labyrinth of man-made canals that snake through leafy suburbs an hours’ drive north of Brisbane. The area has a vibrant holiday feel, no doubt in part because of all that sunshine and vast parklands that connect sea with civilisation. With mild winters and warm summers, it's a popular getaway destination year round. Marina AccessThe Marina is located in a safe, protected harbour, open all weather and all tides. Entry is via the mouth of the Mooloolah River at Point Cartwright (lighthouse).For details on the latest conditions at the river entrance, please check current Notices to Mariners on the Marine Safety Queensland web site. Marina BerthsBerth sizes range from 10m to 18m, both mono and multihull berths, available for short or long term rental. All berths are well maintained and serviced and have water, power, fire hose reels and security lighting. A recent major refurbishment has seen the marina extended to 265 floating berths, all with power, water and lighting. There are 16 multi-hull berths available up to 18 metres long.Please contact the Mooloolaba Marina Office to enquire about a berth for short term rental. Vessel owners do not need to have a Yacht Club membership to berth at Mooloolaba Marina, however all boats must have 3rd party insurance. Marine ServicesA comprehensive range of marine services are available within a short distance. These include boatyard facilities, chandleries, fuel, marine mechanics, shipwrights, riggers and sail makers. Call into the Marina Office and they’ll give you information on who to see and how to find the right tradesmen.Chandlery, Boat Repairs and SlippingFor all your general equipment and great advice on the best solutions, pop into Sunsport Marine, right next to the Yacht Club. Rope, wet wares, paint, safety gear, it's all there! For bigger jobs where slippage is required, head over to nearby Lawrie's Marina. They have haul out facilities and excellent marine maintenance businesses on site.Office ServicesThe Marina Office is open seven days a week from 8.30 to 5.00 and provides mail, fax and photocopying facilities. The crew can also help out with calling a cab, recommending tours or restaurants as well as pointing you in the right direction for shopping expeditions. Latest weather reports are always available too.Marina AmenitiesPay telephone, clean toilets, showers, washers and dryers are all located at the Marina Office building beneath the palm trees.Onboard InternetWireless broadband internet is available onboard each vessel through Marinanet. Gas Tank Refills & FuelGas bottles can be filled onsite at the Mooloolaba Marina. Fuel is not available at the marina, though there is fuel dock a short distance upstream. Ask at the Marina Office for directions.InsuranceA requirement of the Mooloolaba Marina, is that all vessels berthed must have insurance and produce it to the office on arrival. Coverage must be at least third party and public risk insurance for $10,000,000 (10 Million dollars).Rubbish & Waste Fuel/OilIf you can't stash the trash, please dispose of it in our big blue industrial bin in the car park, north of the Marina Office. To dispose of unwanted fuel or oil, go down to the end of Parkyn Parade to the hazardous waste facility. Social EventsThe Marina is renowned for its friendly and welcoming environment with many regular social events. Every Friday night a BBQ is held at the Sunshine Coast Yacht Club which is situated on the waterfront amidst lawns and palm trees. Sailors can either BYO meat or purchase meat packs from the bar, along with reasonably priced drinks. The Yacht Club welcomes you to join them and be part of a friendly social environment.Like to dine out? Mooloolaba is a gourmands heaven with fresh seafood, direct from the trawler right at the end of the Spit. A short walk to Mooloolaba is a range of dining options from Chinese, Mexican, Thai, Italian: every taste on the globe is available. After dinner, enjoy the nightlife at one of the surf clubs or excellent bars dotted along the beaches right up the Sunshine Coast. Pet FriendlyThe Mooloolaba Marina is pet friendly! Your moggy or pooch is welcome, but please keep the canine on a leash and your favourite feline onboard. Always remember to clean up after your pet and consider the neighbours at all times.Local KnowledgeThe friendly management team at the Mooloolaba Marina will be happy to help use their local knowledge to make the most of your visit to the Sunshine Coast. If you want to hire a car, catch a bus or just want to know where are the best water holes, galleries or rainforest walks are, pop into the Marina Office and talk to one of the crew.Take your time and enjoy peaceful, pristine beaches, then discover the green hinterland and attractions beyond our white, sandy shore. Many attractions are within walking distance from the Mooloolaba Marina, including Mooloolaba's world famous marine attraction, Underwater World and of course the magnificent Mooloolaba Beach. Just 15 minutes away is the popular hinterland town of Buderim on the ridge overlooking the Sunshine Coast, with quaint boutiques, shops and cafes. There's also walking trails to Buderim Falls in the Buderim Forest. Hinterland towns of Montville and Maleny (well known for resident artists, galleries and cafes) as well Eumundi and those famous Eumundi Markets are all located in the cool lush Sunshine Coast hinterland. Also in the region is Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo, easily accessible by bus from downtown. While you are berthed at the Mooloolaba Marina, take a ride up into the Blackall Range, a glorious 40 minute ride up into the lush hinterland of the Sunshine Coast. Sophisticated Noosa is just up the coast a little way if you're looking for fine dining amidst the oh so trendy set who flock to Noosa to escape Melbourne and Sydney winters.
