The Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania is the premier yacht club in Tasmania, conducting local events on the River Derwent, holding national and international yachting titles, as well as managing the Hobart side of the blue water classic, the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. It's a club with a long tradition of producing top class sailors, not least because it actively encourages members and guests to get involved with Club activities. New members are invited to join the Club across a range of membership options, while visiting boat owners are welcome to book a temporary marina berth and enjoy the Clubhouse Bar and Restaurant overlooking the marina. |

Regattas for cruising and racing sailors are held throughout the year, inviting sailors from all over Hobart, indeed Australia, to participate. Members of RYCT have recently collaborated to update and reprint the Tasmanian cruising guide, the Tasmania Anchorage Guide, now in its 4th edition. The six week cruise in company Van Diemen's Land Circumnavigation of Tasmania is a particular highlight held every second year. The RYCT has recently completely upgraded its marina facilities to become one of the most modern boat berthing facilities in Hobart. Members or visitors wanting to attend to boat maintenance are well served by the Slipway that can accommodate vessels up to 15m (50ft) in length, 4.5m (15ft) beam and up to 20tonnes. Nearby, Bay Leisure & Chandlery can supply necessary boat bits for boat owners to undertake repairs or maintenance. Is there a boatyard, or indeed a Yacht Club, anywhere in Australia with a better landscape feature than the one seen from the RYCT, which sits beneath majestic Mt Wellington? |
