Exquisite qualia, a quiet haven

Far from the madding tourist crowd of Hamilton Island, exclusive qualia sits quietly behind imposing gates

qualia, meaning a collection of sensory experiences, certainly lives up to its name. On passing through the towering gates and into the private enclave of this swanky new resort on Hamilton Island, I'm not disappointed.  The style and elegance of qualia is a welcome addition to the refurbished 80's nature of accommodation that was previously the prevailing choice on this privately owned resort island.  This exclusive resort, located beachside at North Point, and just a short buggy ride from the airport, is a sophisticated haven for those wanting to truly indulge themselves in exquisite surroundings, far from the 'great unwashed' crowds that can dominate Front Street in downtown Hamilton Island.

Romantic one bedroom Pavilions, catering for just 120 guests in total, are discretely spaced amongst the wooded hilltop and come complete with their own private electric two seater buggy.  Careful design considerations, both internally and externally, ensure each private pavilion blends serenely into the natural eucalypt bushland.  Windward Pavilions take advantage of cooling trade wind breezes and National Park vistas, complete with horizon edge plunge pool.  Floor to ceiling glass panels frame the view, one of which remarkably drops beneath the floor creating an open space, with the densely wooded summit of Whitsunday Island dominating the vista.  From here, it is possible to lie in bed and watch the mesmerising tidal currents rush through Fitzalan Passage just beneath your window.
The resort is now fully complete with the recent opening of the westward facing Leeward Pavilions. Guests with this aspect enjoy the same unashamedly scarlet sunsets often seen by the eclectic crowd that gathers for sunset cocktails at the One Tree Hill summit gazebo.

Behind its impressive gated entry, qualia is all about understated luxury.   Windward Pavilions start at $1600 per room per night and include all meals and non alcoholic beverages. Two restaurants and bar, plus a private dining room provide divine dining options. There's a Spa, library, two swimming pools and gym with access to your own personal trainer. Plus there's also a water sports desk to provide daytime activities for guests who feel the need to venture beyond their exquisite pavilions.
