Somerset on the Pier, Hobart

Historic Hobart offers all the charm of sandstone warehouses converted into galleries, cafes amidst a vibrant waterfront precinct

Located smack bang in the middle of Hobart's waterfront precinct and Constitution Dock, Somerset's serviced apartments offer travellers fantastic options to experience quality accommodation facilities in an iconic location. Somerset on the Pier is an award winning transformation of an early 1930s pier building. The apartments are literally located right on the pier, and, overlooking historic Sullivan Cove, the panoramic views of the Derwent River are stunning.

A few steps away from these beautiful apartments are Hobart's busy waterfront with its many shops and restaurants. The apartments are also only a few minutes walk to the Central Business District, as well as all the charismatic charm of nearby Salamanca Place and Battery Point.
From this central location you can enjoy the city's finest restaurants and cafes, local galleries and craft shops, while enjoying the natural beauty and charm. If your stay co-incides with a weekend, don't miss the Salamanca Markets. It's a showcase of Tasmanian craftsmanship with plenty of quality Tasmanina products on show. As with any self respecting market, there is also music provided by buskers, plenty of food options as well as fresh produce for sale.

Hobart is the kind of city that encourages exploration by foot, with intriguing dockside warehouses a reminder of a long forgotten past. There is no chance of losing your bearings as you wander the city: just look to the skyline and dominant Mt Wellington will give you a ready reference point. And there is no better place to explore intriguing waterfront than from your  Somerset apartment. Reside in comfort here with the security and space of a private apartment with all the services and facilities desired.

The best rooms are north facing with an upstairs mezzanine bedroom. With floor to ceiling glass overlooking all the action of Sullivans Cove, the vista is typical Hobart. The view is ever changing as fishing and leisure boats come and go. Room types to request (perfect for a couple) are a 1 Bedroom Executive or a 1 Bedroom Balcony.   Early risers, curled up on waterside couch with a cup of coffee, will find that dawn overlooking the docks is mesmerising as the city awakes.

All rooms are fully equipped with full kitchen and laundry appliances and equipment. Room service is available for those who don't have the energy to walk the few steps to the adjacent restaurants and cafes. And of course there is the option to self cater. Though why would you bother with terrific fresh food one of the main attractions of a Tassie getaway.

Hobart gets a little crazy between Christmas and New Year as the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race brings scores of yachts and their crews into Hobart. The Taste of Tassie Festival is also on at this time, making it an exciting time to be in Hobart. Just make sure you book early if you intend to join these celebrations as most rooms are likely to be booked out well in advance.
